Critiques of the WWE’s “Wellness Program” — what is wrong with this picture?

Sіnсе Jeff Hardy іѕ thе current topic οf thе day, I јυѕt thουght I’d bring up a related аnd perhaps more vital issue аnd qυеѕtіοn. Concerning WWE’s “Wellness Program” (see link fοr details), dο уου rесkοn here аrе problems wіth thе way thе WWE іѕ dealing wіth substance abuse? It seems tο mе lіkе thе Wellness program іѕ more οf a patch-up job thаn a real solution. Tοο many wrestlers hаνе bееn lost аnd tοο many more аrе getting addicted tο steroids, drugs, GH, painkillers, et cetera — аrе random hard аnd mandatory suspensions real solutions? Dο thеу јυѕt pay lip benefit tο much lаrgеr problems thаt thе WWE isn’t аblе οr willing tο deal wіth?

While I don’t have time to follow the link and read it, I still have an opinion on the WWE’s wellness policy. I don’t reckon the WWE is doing it out of the kindness of their heart. If they were they would have instituted the policy a long time ago.

It is only being done as PR go to toss off negative attention. If any of the substances that violate the policy have been prescribed by a doctor than the wrestler will automatically not be in violation.

In any case of the policy if the WWE really likes you, they will probably protect you and keeping pushing you. Look at Randy Orton. While he has been caught twice for marijuana use and suspended for other violations he still continues to be pushed. The guy has done a lot of terrible things like trash hotel rooms, crap in people’s bag and even attempted suicide once or talked about. You reckon WWE would take a more cautious side in pushing him. But for some wits they just like to give him the ball.

I truly believe that Vince does not have belief in Hardy since he doesn’t fit the mold of the type of wrestlers he likes to push. So they were more than keen to suspend Hardy. It made them look fantastic, like they were really enforcing their policy since a top tier guy got suspended. I will only believe the policy is not biased when I see a guy like HHH or John Cena get suspended.

i reckon the wellness program was brought in just 2 shut the media up. every so ofen a couple of mid carders are suspended. jeff hardy was because they have a point to verify. guys like batista or john cena will never suspended or fined coz they are 2 of the companys largest draws. no one can seriously say that cena can miraculously just get larger just because he was brought up 2 the status of main eventer.

I don’t want to initiation a terrible conversation here but if you noticed the “Wellness Program” was not even heard of until the tragedy of the Benoit family. McManiac had to do something to make him look like he really cared, which he doesn’t. Yeah he has offered help to all present and former wrestlers who have problems, but it is only for PR to make him look excellent. If he wants to do something when someone gets in this kind of distress don’t just suspend them, make them go to rehab as a condition of their coming back. Just suspending them is not helping them with their problem. Oh and HHH and John Cena don’t due the stuff so why should they be suspended? Just because they have well developed muscles doesn’t mean they are on the stuff. If that were right McManiac should suspend himself. No one at his age can have a body like that without help. If you all can say that about others I can say it about him.

They’ve had the policy since Eddie Guerrero’s death. They have only just started christening the wrestlers who don’t pass the tests. I don’t know how often they do the tests or how many wrestlers get tested at a time, but it’s better than nothing. To tell you the truth, I really couldn’t care less about what these guys do in their off time as long as they are excellent performers in the ring. They didn’t have a hard program before because they couldn’t afford it, especially when WCW had overtaken them in the ratings. It’s not like WWE is an actual sport, so the users aren’t really getting an unfair competitive edge or anything.

Did everyone weep when Chris Masters got suspended for 60 days last fall or when DH Smith got suspended for 30 days?

I agree with the people above the Wellness Program is just to make the wwe look like here caring and actully doing something about drugs and steriods…

i don’t reckon that WWE are serius at all in this policy and believe me the minute when the eyes are tourned away from them and the mainstream is over to a fantastic degree be back to see loaded huge wrestlers

i don’t even take seriusly “most of ” here suspension ( like charlie haas , and harry smith (etc) those were caught about months before they say they did and they suspended them back then just tro show the media that they are doing something
it’s all politica ,i mean who don’t reckon that jhon cena was an strero and it’s the only wits why he could came back earlier

or back when they daid they released two developmental because of steroid use the truth is that they were about to release them because they couldn’t found any angle to work with them and here was nothing to do with the wellness violation …

as long as they are keeping those huge guys and bodybuilders taking the push over the hardworker this problem to a fantastic degree be haunting them but vince ‘s too stupid to admit that and those who are around him are too budy kissing his ass then telling him the truth

it’s really haeart breaking that they didn’t gather a thing from all the benoit tragedy

  9. undertaker_undertakerhbk says:

The Wellness Policy is for the media unadorned and simple. It makes them look like they are doing it for the benefit of the person, but it is for the benefit of the company.

  10. Adam P says:

WWE is only doing this because congress place the pressure on them.
